A few announcements:
First off, thank you for sending in a sock with your kiddo so that he/she can use it as a whiteboard eraser. This is so helpful!
Mrs. Campbell, our art teacher, is requesting kids bring in an old, oversized shirt so that kids' regular clothing can be protected from messy art projects. If you send these in with kiddos, I'll make sure they make it to Mrs. Campbell in the art room.
The school district is switching up some things this year regarding photo permissions of kids. If you do NOT want your kiddo's photo taken for newsletters, flyers, etc., PLEASE let me know and I'll give you an opt-out form to fill out and return to the office. Otherwise, the school district and I will assume you give us permission.
Your 1st grader has maybe mentioned some STRIPE card rewards. STRIPE is our positive behavior system and when kiddos earn 12 signatures on their STRIPE card, they can turn in one or more for various prizes. One of the current prizes is to be able to bring a stuffed animal for the day. This seems to be a popular choice in our class. I kindly ask that if kids choose this prize that they bring in a SMALL stuffed animal - one that can sit on a desk without being a total distraction. Thanks for your help with this!
You will see a ton of papers in your kiddo's Back & Forth Folder tonight. I will try to send home the majority of papers on Thursdays. Every Friday, starting tomorrow, you will see homework come home in Back & Forth Folders. Homework will go home on Fridays and is always due the following Friday. So, the homework that goes home tomorrow won't be due until Friday, 8/31. With your student's homework tomorrow you will see a cover letter explaining homework AND a Lexia login card. Please keep the Lexia login card in a safe place so that kids can access their username/password easily.
